Cabrach days

  CABRACH DAYS

There's been bonnie days in the Cabrach;
There'll be bonnie days again,
Bit fa will be there tae see them?
Fa will be there tae ken?

There's naebody noo in the fine spring days
Plooin the Powneed parks,
Naebody tae see the teuchats' nests
Or hear the singin larks.

There's nae squad noo on Bracklach's braes
Hyowin neeps in the simmer sun,
Wi the clink o the hyow an the fly-time news
An the yoam o the new turned grun.

The sun that ripened Findourin's corn
Is shinin on rashie braes.
There's naething but rabbits grazin noo
Faar the black nowt ees't tae graze.

There's an orra rickle o staens noo
Faar the smiddy ees't tae stan
Faar Jimmy Kellas shod the horse
That vrocht the Cabrach lan.

There's been stormy nichts in the Cabrach,
There'll be stormy nichts again,
Bit faar will be the lowin fires
Fowk ees't ti gither roon?

The win that dried the Cabrach peats
Is soochin throu raws o fir.
The fires that waarmt the lang forenichts nichts
Are oot forever mair.

There's been starry nichts in the Cabrach.
There'll be starry nichts again.
Bit faar will be the bonnie quines
That need convoyin hame,

Comin daffin ben the burnside
When a forenicht visit's by,
Wi a stolen kiss in the cornyard
Aneth the star bricht sky?

Fa will mak their vows in the Cabrach Kirk
Tae be true an lovin wives,
An rock the Cabrach cradles,
An guide new Cabrach lives?

Fa will tell the stories
O the Cabrach days lang syne?
Fa will keep the memories o’t
Fin aa the fowk hiv gane?
