12th Adam spring tining in back park a.m. & p.m. I at John Kellas Aldivallochs funeral he aged 82 years. Harry Nicoll over for our pulleys to lift Mally mare . I planted 200 cabbage at night. Haddoch & Redford working at taties. traction at Powned with lime & manure

18th Adam spring tining all day Dod Gordon here working helping me in garden I planted Sharps Victors in garden & Dod took out a strainer to Reids with Love for a bag of taties to his sister. A fine day.

3rd ...Dod & I repaired the fence between us & Bodiebae in far hill very warm day... Wilson planted his taties at Bodiebae today
5the Adam dunged 10 dreels & I broke it mixed manure & he sowed it &I linked down dreels. Dod not here today. John Jamieson Mossside married to Macintoshes the roadmans daughter at Rhynie.
8th ... I made Adam louse about 5 p.m. & go to Rhynie for the Dr to Lizzie she worse he did not come Old reid up p.m.
9th Adam Rhynie for the Dr to Lizzie early in the morning he came at 1 p.m. ... I to Rhynie riding on Dasey for druggs to Lizzie Mina Smith came & stayed with us fine day

11th I gathered sheep & put clipped ones ewes & gimmers 63 to back hill & out 40 of Powneeds 2 of Howbogs 11 of Bracklachs & clipped 2 wedder hoggs a.m. Adam Mary & I hoed till 4.30 then us & the bairns & Jim held our own PicNic none of us at other PicNic rain heavy at night..
18th Watrs very big ... I at fishing caught 7 big trouts... has damaged the neeps this storm of rain
20th clipped ewes & cut lambs one of the big ones ruptured so I had to kill & has one to cut yet. Clipping Adam Mary Jane Daun & Wilson till 3 pm.m finished at 8 p.m.
21st ...I went to Aberdeen with the 7.35 train (from Gartly) & stayed with Mrs Mearns train 3/9
22nd Wm Cooper & I went to show...
23rd Wm & I at Milne optician & I got my eyes tested for eyeglasses and bought a pair 3/- then we had a walk through the town & down past the bathing station &C a.m. we left Aberdeen with the 3.40p.m train home here about 9 p.m. Dasey 1/- trout hooks &C 10d
24th Adam setting peats all day Wm setting too p.m. I hoeing all day Mary finished setting up hers tonight.

1st Adam cutting hat & Wm Cooper & I hoeing neeps in back park Adam & Wm hoeing p.m. I at top of Buck with Helen John & Jane Robertson & a Miss Bowman from Aberdeen had tea here Powneed dipped today & Howbog too.
2nd Adam from home Mrs Shearer & 2 boys Adam & George at Church. My horses amongst Powneeds so before I got them home I was too late for Church
3rd Adam & I gathering hay & Wm raking & stooking a.m. a fine day for the job.
4th Adam Wm & I finished coling before the rain came ... Adam rinning neeps & Wm & I hoeing p.m.
5th cold wet day Adam Wm Cooper & I winnowed 1.5 qrs corn for meal the Adam to Rhynie with Poll & Bob & got them both shod.
6th ...dipped.. Adam caught & I dipped 316 of my own & some strangers all with Robertsons non-Poisonous Highland no police put in an appearance a very fine day for the job
7th Reekimlane.. brought home hogg clipped tared & ironed her gave Mrs Shearer fleece
8th Adam carting peats to Jas Reid has 30 loads all fine & dry. I ticked wool bags a fine day... has caught 19 moles in back park amomgst neeps

12th James Adam Mary & I at Wm Smiths of Lumsdens funeral buried in Towie Churchyard aged 54 went all the way with brake crops looking as well in Cabrach as anywhere else Frost this morning taties frosted in Lumsden

17th Adam carting home his peats had 3 men & 2 carts from Bodiebae & Poll took them all home 25 loads. I cutting ragwood a.m. Little Adam & I to Silverford with red cow p.m. Wm Cooper working at Howbog
23rd Adam at Kumsden a.m. Jim & him & boys at berries p.m. a chap ran from Lodge to top of Buck & back to Lodge then 4 women & 5 men started from Pownrrd to top of Buck but most of them failed
24th Wilson came with Charlie & him & Adam carted home last of peats total 41 loads & fine & dry. I building stack. Wm Cooper here asking for Dasey to drive Mary Souter to Gartly station. Rain came on at night.
25th ... I drove Mary Souter to Gartly at station 5 p.m. Insurance paid 15/- Into Bank £46”2”4 expences 2/- . a heavy rain all day.
28th George Robertson Wm Wilson & I at Johns fair Wilson riding on Bob I on Dasey & George on his 4 year old mare. Symon Huntly bade me £30 for Bob; went & came by Glenbucket home by 4.30 Adam at rashes & looking after Bidiebae lambs & home my lamb fromBracklach
30th... I got a present of riding whip from Wm Smith

3rd Adam carting peats to Jnae Daun Wm Cooper & I at Dufftown sales I bought 30 BF lambs off Laggan @ 10/3 per head = 315”7”6 50 yds wire netting 1.5 X 36 inch 8/- yard rake 6d Dasey 10d
4th... I rode down to Forest to see & engage a girl 17 years old could not bake & needing at the rate of £10 per half year.
16th A cold wet day after the thunder I took outthe dam plug a.m. then I went to Mrs McWilliams funeral aged 83 years . Wm cooper joined me at the Cottage & we drove on to Keithmore John & George Robertson & their uncle over at Bodiebae p.m. took away 10 of their worst stirks for sale tomorrow.
17th Wm Cooper & I had a look round Keithmore then down to sales at Dufftown. George Robertson sold 10 stirks at £9 each profit of £2. Adam working at dam.
18th Adam & Wm working at dam all day I over at Bodiebae seeing mill taken out & put on lorry. Wilson would not let Wm Baettie & the rest of them into mill till Dawson came. Ploughmans ball at School tonight a fine day.
20th Mrs Shearer & al her family at Church... Harry Nicoll youngest son to be baptised..

23rd I at Balvenie saw mill to see & get a plug for mill dam did not get one. .. harvesting about Dufftown. Provost John Symon buried today aged 83.
25th ... I at Milton putting Scotts side delivery reaper in order it is a Plano reaper. Got no one but Mrs Scott Scott himself in bed & the rest at Aldunie harvesting a fine day.
27th A fine day Mrs Shearer & Jane Spence at Lumsden Vis here Nell Reid Bella Reid Mary Reid & Maggie Souter or Nicoll & her daughter & Peter Simpson. Jas Dawson & Wm Beattie took a look round Bodiebae p.m.
28th Adam Wm Cooper & Jane Daun at Howbog harvesting all day... Tok out reaper & put it together & fencing at dam.

1st finished cutting out of ripe bit am. Adam Wm & Jane Daun binding up

3rd ... cutting hens croft & clearing roads for reaper round lea corn p.m. a fearful warm day Jane Daun at Elrick harvesting
6th finished cutting end of clean ground by 4 p.m. I to Howbog to see if it was fit for leading a right fine day.
7th Started reaper by 8.30 & cut a.m. set up 2 rick foons ready for leadiing in the morning cutting all p.m. corn valuation at Bodiebae Wm Cran & Finlay
8th finished cuttong of lea by dinnertime & set up stooks started to lead clean groound took in 2 ricks only in fair trim came on a shower of rain 4 p.m. took down wire netting & let hens to their freedom. Drdumdelgie here & feed Adam.
9th... I helped Bodiebae folks with their reaper & put own mill in order thrashed our first tonight strong wind
10th... Bodiebae started cutting most of them leading & has it all in
12th ... all in but 1 rick by night Wm & I carting & Jane Daun forking in field

16th Adam 7 I mending nets hares cutting them he cartted home thatch & Jane Cameron forked I & the boys at Cabrach market I sold Jas Reids 2 queys to Farquharson @ £21. Lizzie turned bad tonight sore head & sick
17th ... home plug from Shands p.m. I down at Reids at night & feed a woman Elsie Bruce @ £1 per month arles 1/- Lizzie better mornning bad at night again

19th A bad wet day . Cannot get dipped. Put new plug in to dam & opened a bit of mill lade. Shand has made a botch of plug not watertight. Home a few loads of neeps tonight.
21st... dipped all 352 of our own & 5 strangers Farquharson & Craig of Gauldwell here & bought BM ewes @ 17/- woman Elsie Bruce came tonight
23rd Adam & I over at Howbog with Poll 7 thrashed out a ricka.m. took in 2 ricks of green corn ... Police here afternoon. A great fire kindling at Powneed tonight.

28th... Wilson driving Mrs Shearer & family away. Wm Rattray up a BM ewe to Mrs Souter
29th ... a right fine day like summer

1st Lizzie to Cottage p.m. ...sorted own beasts & wilsons he to Rhynie & got chaff off shilts eye with farrier. Telegramed to J. Black he not coming
3rd ... to Rhynie in gig seeing about getting a man did not succeed
5th John Robson here p.m. gave Wm Wilson loan of £2”5 . Alexr Kelmans father & Wilson had a great row at the plow.
6th Lizzie vis both Howbogs & had her baby with her... Jas McDonald kirket today
7th a man Gordon Stewart calling noon to engage him . So I engage him to do whatever he is told & his wages to be £14 & if he makes a good job of yoking & learning young colt I am to give him one pound extra. He is to be here tomorrow noon.
