7th very frosty all day; engaged a man to work @ 1/- per day, Charles Ferguson, started him to cart out dung p.m. I to Bodiebae
8th Man carting out dung a.m. started him to plough p.m. Jane spreading dung I held 2 rounds of the plough myself. Adam home with sheep a fine fresh day
10th Man ploughing a.m. Adam picking stones 2hrs p.m. & poling out a big one. Jas Smith, Jas Reid & I at Aldunie playing draughts, Mcconnachie, Sheed, Shewan & Rattray
11th Mannie ploughing a.m. he left at dinnertime, could not manage the horse I bored a big stone and blew him to pieces. I received my braw new Draught board tonight, Mary Reid carried it from Post office
12th Adam & I carted 4 loads of stones to drain morning started plow at 9.30 a.m.I at Bodiebae measuring off field for ploughing match... Dr Forbes at Jockie & Jamie they have measles

8th A little soft kind . Sent a white hare to our Bob, parcel & brown to Brander Brothers Huntly. Bob Ligertwood kindly took them down. Jas Reid to Postoffice.
9th Fresh kind today. Chas. Emslie, Jas & Wm Beattie Wm Kellas & I & 4 dogs hare hunting on Buck & all the sport was only 3 white hares which I shot; the rest got nothing...

23rd Woman Annie Milne & girl left 7 a.m. of her own accord I gave her her money as I was glad to get clear of her as she is the worst I ever encountered. Mrs Shearer is to try & manage
